Risa is a founding presence at Burst of Butterflies and the heart behind why this studio exists. Her creativity, resilience, and love for art continue to shape the spirit of the studio and the way we welcome and care for our community.

Risa was an integral part of Burst of Butterflies from the very beginning and the inspiration behind its creation. A traumatic brain injury survivor, artist, daughter, sister, and aunt, she brought determination, humor, and heart into everything she did. Risa contributed in countless ways — painting canvas samples, connecting with guests, supporting studio organization, and always finding ways to help others feel capable and included.

Although Risa’s life was cut short in 2022, her presence is still deeply felt in the studio every day. We honor her through the creativity, kindness, and community that continue to grow within these walls, and through every guest who discovers the joy of creating here.
