Fall Toad Jar – Clay Hand-Building Class

Create your own whimsical Fall Toad Jar from clay!

Join us for a cozy evening of clay as we hand-build an adorable toad-inspired jar, complete with a plump little body and a whimsical mushroom-style lid.

In this fully instructed, beginner-friendly class, you’ll work with clay from the ground up, learning hand-building techniques to create a functional lidded jar with plenty of personality. We’ll guide you step-by-step through forming the hollow jar body, creating and fitting the lid, and adding the sculpted details that transform your piece into its charming little toad character.

You’ll learn techniques including:

• Building and shaping a hollow clay form
• Creating a properly fitting removable lid
• Sculpting and attaching dimensional features
• Adding texture and decorative details
• Smoothing, refining, and preparing your piece for firing

No clay experience is necessary. Your instructor will guide you through the entire process while leaving plenty of room to make your toad uniquely yours.

Please note: The sample image is inspiration for the project. Because every piece is individually hand-built, your finished creation will be uniquely your own. Finished size and appearance will vary.

After class, your piece will dry completely and be bisque-fired in our kiln. Once the bisque firing is complete, typically within approximately 14 days, you’ll return during open studio hours to glaze your creation, choosing colors and details that bring your peculiar little masterpiece to life.

We’ll then glaze-fire it for a glossy, durable finish. Your finished piece will typically be ready for pickup 7–10 days after glazing.

• First kiln firing (bisque fire)
• Complimentary return visit to paint and glaze your piece
• Final glaze firing
