This pottery wheel class is designed for kids ages 8 and up and their families, and is a fun and hands-on way to learn real pottery skills.
Whether it’s your first time trying the wheel or you’ve already taken classes and want to continue improving your skills, this class welcomes all experience levels. Beginners learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing while returning students continue building confidence and technique with guidance from our instructors.
Many kids and families return to this class regularly as their pottery skills continue to grow.

Our instructors work with each participant at their own level, so both beginners and returning students feel comfortable and supported.
🌱 What Kids Will Learn
Beginners will learn:
• How to center clay on the wheel
• How to open clay and create a bowl and cup shape
• How to pull walls evenly
• Foundational pottery wheel techniques
Returning students can focus on:
• Improving consistency and control
• Creating taller or more refined pieces
• Shaping bowls, cups, and small vessels
• Developing their own creative style
Many of our returning students become young potters, continuing to develop their wheel throwing skills over time.
🧑🎨 Who Can Attend
This class is open to kids ages 8 and up.
Kids ages 8 and up may attend independently and can be dropped off for class.
Parents are always welcome to take the class alongside their child and create pottery together.
Each registration reserves one wheel seat. One person per wheel.
🏺 What to Expect
During class, participants typically create two to three pieces, depending on experience and pace. You’ll choose which pieces you’d like to keep, and they will be fired and prepared for glazing.
Pieces must dry completely before firing, which can take up to two weeks. Once fired, you may return to glaze your pieces during regular studio hours (no reservation required).
Finished pieces are $20 each (1½ pounds of clay) and this price includes:
• The clay
• Trimming service
• Kiln firing
• Paint glazes and supplies
• Final glaze firing
Please be on time! Participants 15 minutes or more late may be unable to join class due to limited instruction time.
